Nursery

Our church nursery provides a safe Christian space for children from infancy to PreK. Our Children’s Learning Committee puts health and safety first. Every child must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian every Sunday. Every caregiver wears a badge, has passed a background check, is Covid vaccinated and has agreed to the church’s Child Safety Policy. Paid staff have trained in CPR for infants and children. Our space is organized into two zones to meet the needs of both infants and preschoolers. We clean our age-appropriate colorful toys after each use before returning them to their shelves. Currently all adults and children two and older wear masks due to Covid Health Safety concerns.

Infant/Toddler Zone: If you peek into the church nursery on your way to worship, you will see shelves of colorful toys ready for active play. In the crib area, toys invite tiny tots to work simple puzzles with knobs just right for their chubby hands.  The rocking chair provides a comforting place to enjoy a book with Julles, our staff caregiver. The small rocking horse invites toddlers to go for a ride wherever their imagination takes them. In addition, musical toys, Duplo blocks, stacking rings, and a mini climber with slide provide more safe ways to explore the space. If all that activity is tiring, a full-size crib with fresh sheets is a cozy place to nap.

Preschool Zone: Let’s begin with the Bible story lesson area. You may notice the round table on the rug is divided into individual spaces that help our preschoolers work in their own space. The age-appropriate lesson begins with a Nursery Team Member reading a Bible story from a beautifully illustrated children’s Bible. Then we have a craft or game that helps children retell the story to family at home. Every child has a craft box of their own outfitted with crayons, glue stick, scissors, and materials for that Sunday’s lesson. After the lesson, children choose their own activities from among the equipment arranged around the room. We have a child-size kitchen, easel for drawing with crayons, a listening center for enjoying music, and many toys geared for dramatic play. When parents return to pick up their children, they must sign them out.
