First Presbyterian is committed to individual spiritual growth as we seek to know the Lord in deeper ways, as each of us becomes disciples of the Lord.
That act of discipleship starts with our youngest children. From September through May the Children’s Sunday School meets weekly. In the summer we have a week-long Vacation Bible School to encourage their growth. As the children grow, they are invited to own the faith of their baptism for themselves in their Confirmation program.
Our Youth have both Sunday School and the Trinity Youth Group to encourage their growth in faith. That faith is also shown in their annual Youth Mission Trip, where they grow in faith and in service in local and regional projects.
Our adults gather in multiple opportunities for spiritual growth. Sunday mornings we have a traditional Sunday School. Seasonally during Advent, Lent, and as part of our Vacation Bible School we have special classes. The Academy for Christian Studies also brings in speakers and lecturers on a wide variety of subjects. We have small groups for women (Presbyterian Women), and for Men (Men’s Night In & Band Of Brothers). We are a Bethel Bible Study congregation, and completed the 2-year congregational phase in 2015 for 55 adults. We anticipate beginning Bethel teacher training again in 2017.
